The short version
- The game never asks for your name, email or an account.
- Your scores and settings stay on your iPhone. I don't run servers and I don't receive them.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device and usage data to show and measure those ads. Ads are only personalized if you allow it.
- If you use Game Center, Apple receives your scores and achievements.
- If you buy Remove Ads, the game stops loading ads, and Apple handles the payment.
Who I am
Oops Chef! is made by Valentin Trantescu, an independent developer (“I”, “me”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, write to vt_apps@yahoo.com.
What stays on your iPhone
The game saves these things on your device so it can work:
- your best scores and highest waves, for each difficulty;
- the Scores list, with the names you type in after a game;
- your settings (music, sound effects, vibration, difficulty);
- which Game Center achievements have already been sent;
- how many times the game has been opened, used to leave ads out of your first session.
None of this is sent to me or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it.
Game Center (Apple)
If you're signed in to Game Center, the game sends your scores, your highest wave and the achievements you earn to Apple. Other players may see them, depending on your Game Center settings. Apple handles this data under the Apple Privacy Policy. I don't see your Apple Account details.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The free version of the game shows ads through Google AdMob: an optional short video to get a pot back (“Keep cooking”) and, now and then, a full-screen ad between games. To deliver ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's software in the app may collect:
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Approximate location | Estimated from your IP address (city or region level, not GPS). |
| Device identifiers | The iPhone's advertising identifier, only if you tap “Allow” on Apple's tracking prompt, and identifiers limited to the app or developer. |
| Advertising data | Which ads you've seen, and whether you tapped them. |
| Product interaction | Things like app launches, taps and video views. |
| Diagnostics | Crash logs, performance data (such as launch time), and other technical information. |
Google uses this data for advertising and analytics, as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Personalized ads need your permission. On first launch, Apple's prompt asks whether the game may track you. If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google's consent form also asks for your choices first. If you say no, you still see ads, but they aren't based on your activity in other apps and websites.
All ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience.
Your choices
- Change your consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland): in the game, open Settings › Privacy choices.
- Stop tracking: on your iPhone, go to Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking and turn Oops Chef! off.
- No ads at all: buy Remove Ads in the game. After that the game no longer loads ads or shows the ad prompts.
Purchases
Remove Ads is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and I never see your payment details. The game only asks Apple whether you own Remove Ads, so it can turn ads off.
Statistics from Apple
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers on your iPhone, Apple may give me anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, such as how many people installed the game. I can't identify you from them. You can change this under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
What I don't do
I don't run my own analytics, keep a server, or sell or share your personal data. The game doesn't use your precise location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
Children
Oops Chef! is made for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. Ads are limited to content suitable for all ages. If you're a parent and think your child has sent me personal information, write to me and I'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU and UK), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because the game keeps your data on your device, deleting the app removes it. For data collected by Google for ads, see Google's policy above, or write to me and I'll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If the game starts handling data differently, I'll update this page and change the date at the top.
